RCC bishop: LGBT groups will not stop until they destroy Christian beliefs

The LGBT community’s campaign for equal rights poses a serious threat to Christianity and has spun out of control, Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz, former head of the Diocese of Lincoln, said in an exclusive interview with LifeSiteNews, Christian Today reports.
He stressed that Christians are already being persecuted for disagreeing with same-sex marriage and for defending their religious views on marriage, family and morality. “Bakers refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding and as a result were jailed and fined. They will have to leave their business,” Bruskewitz said.
He also said Catholic military chaplains are concerned that they could be punished – even face lengthy prison sentences – for refusing to recognize same-sex marriage. “These persecutions will continue in the near future. And I think they will not end. As soon as someone tries to protest, they are called bigots and racists, and God knows what else will be pinned on you. So this is the danger of persecution. I think it is coming,” he said.
Bruskewitz expressed the view that gay rights groups will not stop until they destroy Christian beliefs. “I am convinced that every effort will be made to destroy everything Christian that stands in the slightest opposition to this kind of degeneration,” the Catholic cleric added.
The Roman Catholic bishop also lamented that the U.S. government supports LGBT communities. From the Catholic hierarch’s point of view, sexual minorities are not merely demanding tolerance toward themselves, but consent to and support for “a perversion that is repugnant to normal people.”
