UOC honors the memory of fallen soldiers and veterans of Great Patriotic War

On May 8, the Day of Memory and Reconciliation, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and all Ukraine conducted the lity for those, who died during the Great Patriotic War, near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Eternal Glory Park. It was reported by the Awareness-Raising Department of the UOC.

“Today we all prayed for the repose of the chiefs, soldiers and civilians who sacrificed their lives for the great victory over fascism, over the universal evil that hung over Europe and the entire world. Particular courage of our warriors, their valor and stamina contributed to gaining this great victory. It is namely thanks to their feat that we can enjoy the gift of life today”, the Metropolitan remarked.   

After the divine worship the UOC Primate, alongside with the UOC clergy, laid flowers on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy called everybody to maintain peace and pray for the repose of those who fell on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War.   

“May God rest their souls in the land of uprightness, and give us a sensible mind so that we might cherish peace, love each other, and forgive each other. For this is the essence of life”, the UOC Primate concluded.
