During the Passion and Bright Weeks members of the brotherhood of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Kremenchug city congratulated nearly 650 children and sick people, while brothers from Irshava handed 6 thousand Easter cakes to the orphans, ailing, and disadvantaged. It is reported by the UOC Awareness-Raising Department.

In particular, in the course of the charitable project “Let’s bring holiday to orphanage”, on 2-4 May Orthodox brotherhood of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, headed by the action founder, protodeacon Viktor Dudnichenko, attended nine social, sanitary and penitentiary institutions. As it is reported, “friendship between children with special needs and parishioners of St. Nicholas church has lasted for several years”. Not a single big Orthodox holiday is celebrated without parishioners making gifts for their young fosterlings.

Brothers handed over gifts which had been collected by the Kremenchug clergy and parishioners of the Holy Trinity church, All Saints church, as well as Saint Panteleimon church. During the action volunteers were able to visit 650 children and 80 elderly people.

In Vinnitsa diocese of the UOC on May 4 St. Parasceva church’s senior priest, archimandrite Arkadiy (Senchukovskiy) paid visit to Zhmerinka regional social dormitory for the orphaned children and children deprived of parental care. He congratulated everybody on the Easter holiday, made confectionary gifts, and donated funds which had been raised by the parishioners. The children, in their turn, congratulated him by reciting poems and singing festive songs.

In Zaporozhye on May 6 cleric of St. Nicholas church, protopriest Viktor Usatiuk together with his parish congratulated on Easter fosterlings of the department for social adaptation and rehabilitation of children with special needs of Khortitsa territorial social service center. The priest sanctified the institutional building and handed over gifts. Besides, a festive concert was prepared for the children.

Throughout the Passion and Bright Weeks Irshava youth brotherhood of St. John the Baptist held a 10-day charitable action “Christ is Risen – rejoice everyone”. The youth delivered 6 thousand Easter cakes to those in need, as well as an infinite number of painted Easter eggs, 40 kilos of sweets, and 200 packaged food stuffs.

“It is 10 p.m., we are absolutely dead on our feet, but at the same time feel happy looking into the eyes of those who we’ve visited”, brothers shared their impressions about the charity action. On the first day following Easter, members of the brotherhood’s public order squad arranged a fiesta for all city residents, treating everybody with Easter cakes and painted eggs.
