Church's view: to hold LGBT march is inappropriate and blasphemous
The development of any country, any society depends on what fundamental values they are based on. If you deprive them of clear moral compass, undermine their spiritual basis, decline is inevitable. The only question is when exactly a catastrophe breaks out. As soon as evil is called a natural phenomenon, sin makes the society sluggish, gravitating to the satisfaction of their passions, not the solution of strategic tasks of the public. As a result, the state becomes a colossus with feet of clay, which will not be able to protect itself in a moment of real danger, says Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) in his interview to the UOJ.
The upcoming march in support of LGBT people in Kiev lays another brick in the possibility of implementing this unpleasant outlook. It does not only challenge the spiritual values of our people. This action drives another wedge of separation in our society, which is so racked with contradictions in many spheres.
Moreover, this march looks extremely inappropriate and blasphemous against the background of the ongoing war in eastern Ukraine, which continues to kill our people. It is the settlement of this terrible conflict we should be preoccupied with, day and night, and not to respond to a greater extent ephemeral LGBT issues.
The objectives of the march are destructive. They are on the surface: to convince the society that to live in sin is a norm, to destroy confidence in the sanctity of marriage, to confuse and corrupt children who are taught vice presented as the highest form of self-expression.
Manipulation is everywhere and in everything – that's the motto of the organizers. Let’s take the name of the event – "March of Equality". The word "equality", in theory, should reassure the society and adjust to the fact that in this way we are going to European values. But what equals what? Natural and unnatural? Families and vice? Good and evil?
Our Church is opposed to this march. It will only do harm to our people – either from the spiritual or social points of view. We ask God for only one thing – that this event will not end up with the blood shed of the two confronting sides.
