Political Expert: Appeal Adventure with Constantinople Patriarch Led to Failure

Over the recent weeks Ukraine has faced a number of defeats on a foreign political arena. An address of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Constantinople Patriarch can be included in the list of such defeats, announced political expert Kost’ Bondarenko at the RIA News Ukraine press conference, as reported by RIA Novosti Ukrainia.

Mr. Bondarenko attributed to foreign political “screw-ups” of Ukraine “an adventure with appeal to the Constantinople Patriarch that ended up with total failure for Ukraine and, on top of that, outraged comments of the high-rank clergy of the World’s Orthodoxy who declared it was too bold for Ukraine”, announced the political expert.

It is to be reminded on June 16 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted an address to the Ecumenical Patriarch requesting Him to grant autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
