Thousands of pilgrims continue their pious journey in All-Ukrainian Cross Procession – 2016

On 10 July, after the Divine Liturgy in Kremenets Epiphany nunnery, over 3 thousand pilgrims went on their Cross Procession destined in Kiev, while about 10 thousand  believers left Kharkov to join the Procession with praying. It is reported by the UOC Awareness-Raising Department.

On the 10th of July the Cross Procession was able to cover 30 km from Kremenets to Shumsk. On 11 July in the morning the pilgrims headed for Mezhirichchia Holy Trinity monastery.

On their way the faithful keep praying together with the priests who read acathistos and canons. The monks set amplifiers on the van for the rest to hear prayers. It has become common for new participants to flow into the pilgrim stream nearly at every populated area. There were estimated 5 thousand people at the entrance to Shumsk city.

Simultaneously, a devotional journey, which started from the Holy Dormition Sviatogorsk Lavra, continues in Kharkov diocese. On July 10, after the moleben service in Annunciation Cathedral of Kharkov, accompanied by the festive church-ringing and troparion singing, the clergy and the faithful – participants of the Cross Procession – proceeded further to the west towards Poltava.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy in Annunciation Cathedral of Kharkov the clergy offered their prayers before the icons of the Mother of God – Sviatogorskaya, Peschanskaya, Ozerianskaya, the icon  of New Martyrs and Confessors of Sloboda region – those which accompany the Cross Procession.

At midday nearly 10 thousand pilgrims took to the road. On the way they had pit-stops at the memorial crosses and conducted moleben services for the peace in Ukraine. The Orthodox from all surroundings join the Procession, the cars stop on highways, Ukrainians bend before the sanctities and receive blessing from the priests participating in the Procession.

It will be reminded that on July 3rd All-Ukrainian Cross Procession of peace, love, and prayer for Ukraine started form the Holy Dormition Sviatogorsk Lavra, while on July 9th a devotional procession from the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra left from the opposite direction for both processions to meet in Kiev on July 27th.
