Armenian Church calls to resolve the situation in Yerevan peacefully

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch Catholicos of All Armenians, and the members of the Brotherhood of Holy Etchmiadzin expressed a deep concern about the attack on the Police Station in the Erebuni District of Yerevan, Armenia, and called to resolve the situation peacefully. This was reported by RIA Novosti

"Such actions of armed extremism are inexcusable. Today, our nation's harmony, solidarity and national unity are vital and imperative for the preservation and safeguarding of our nation’s strength and safety", said in a statement released by the press office of the Holy Echmiadzin. 

Recall, early on July 17, 2016, a group of armed men entered the territory of the patrol police regiment of Armenia and under the threat of violence keeps people staying there. According to the police, the attack resulted in the death of one policeman, injuries to both the attackers and an officer. Currently, the armed group is holding five policemen hostage, including senior officials.
