On Independence Day of Ukraine the UOC Volyn diocese will pray for Homeland
On celebration days of the 25th
anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine churches of Volyn diocese will offer their special prayers for the Homeland and its soldiers. It is reported by the diocese’s site.
"This year our state celebrates a significant date – 25th
anniversary of its independence. Throughout the whole history of Ukraine and its statehood, which has lasted for thousands of years, since the Baptism of Kievan Rus up until now, the Holy Orthodox Church has always been together with Her people, whose soul is the Holy Orthodoxy. Therefore, celebrations of the 25th
anniversary of Independence of our native land are the days of the Church festivities and intensive praying,” the diocesan site underscores.
The diocese announced that “from 20 to 24 August there will be held the Divine Liturgy in all churches and monasteries of Volyn eparchy. There will be also services for the dead – all those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom, independence and better lot for Ukraine.”
"At the Divine Liturgy there will be offered a special prayer for the health of the present defenders of our land – Ukrainian soldiers and for the rest of the soldiers who gave their lives for the independence and unity of Ukraine in the ATO zone. Respectively, a special prayer for the soldiers’ health will sound during the moleben service, while a prayer for the rest of souls of our country’s soldiers will be offered during the Lity for the dead service,” specifies the site.
