Bill № 5309 is a wild thing, – politologist (VIDEO)
Ruslan Bortnik, the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Analysis and Management, sharply criticized a new legislative initiative, according to which the Church should change its name if its governing bodies are in the country recognized by the Verkhovna Rada as an aggressor State. In his commentary to the UOJ the political analyst noted that bill № 5309 is another attempt to discredit the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
"This is an attempt to make the Church more vulnerable and weaker in the information field, an easy target for information and not only attacks, – said Ruslan Bortnik. – We witness church seizures and large local conflicts. The new bill is needed to justify these attacks."
Along with that the politologist noted that he does not believe that bill № 5309 will be adopted.
"In principle, the registration documents of the Church are in the hands of the Ministry of Justice, so if they somehow do not comply with the Ukrainian legislation, they may be recognized illegal, – Bortnik said. – Well, let's submit the bill to rename, say, "Yuriy V. Lutsenko" into "Yukhim V. Lutsenko ". It makes no sense, and it is a gross violation of the rights of legal entities to their name in terms of their position. There is nothing even to talk about. It sounds wild. If the name is incorrect, it is decided by the courts on the recommendation of the Ministry of Justice, which has registered the Church. Religious affairs are no business of the deputies because such attempts remind of some sort of Middle Ages practice than the normal democratic reality."
Bill № 5309 submitted to the Verkhovna Rada reads that a religious organization, whose governing center (management) is situated outside Ukraine in the State, recognized as carrying out military aggression against Ukraine and temporarily occupying part of the territory of Ukraine is obliged "to show in its full name, indicated in the statute (regulations), the affiliation with a religious organization (association) outside Ukraine, in which it is included (of which it is part), by mandatory reproduction in its name of the full statutory name of the specified religious organization (association) with the possible addition of the words "in Ukraine" and / or designation of its place within the structure of a foreign religious organization."
