UOC clergy deliver 17 tons of humanitarian aid to the East of Ukraine

17 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to Donetsk region by the volunteering priests of Vinnitsa and Tulchin UOC dioceses at the end of November. It is reported by the site of Vinnitsa UOC diocese.

From November 21 to 26 the journey of Vinnitsa volunteering chaplains, archpriests Alexey Volkov and Anatoliy Kuznetsov to the east of Ukraine continued. This time cleric of Tulchin diocese, hieromonk Stephan (Poperechny) joined the two priests.

Together with the representatives of NGOs the clergymen delivered 17 tons of the humanitarian cargo to the military conflict zone.

Foodstuffs, clothes, personal hygiene items, toys, which had been collected in Vinnitsa parishes, were dispatched to orphanages in the cities of Avdeyevka, Chasov Yar, as well as the House of Mercy at the church of Archistrategos Michael in the village of Novomikhailovka.

35 elderly people, among whom there are mostly bed-ridden, heartily thanked for the help of those who had shared concern and joined the priests’ initiative.

The other part of the aid was transferred to the military men who are currently based in Avdeyevka “industrial zone”. They also received aid from Vinnitsa diocesan administration of the UOC, entrepreneurs and public activists in Vinnitsa region, teachers and students.

The clerics also delivered the addressed aid to the parishioners and to the 59th military-medical hospital of Severodonetsk (medical equipment, medication from Vinnitsa Military-Medical Center of the Central region).

Over the two years and a half during which the above priests have been engaged in a volunteering humanitarian activity, this journey was the most large-scale. It was possible thanks to the assistance of the AF Commander lieutenant-general S. Drozdov and burgeoning cooperation between Vinnitsa diocese with the Civil-Military Unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine which supplied vehicles, fuel, and accompanied the cargo to the ATO zone.

Having come back to Vinnitsa, the priests and volunteers expressed gratitude on behalf of the militaries, as well as residents of orphanages and the nursing home they had attended, to all those who had joined the humanitarian initiative.
