Real science comes from God, – said at a conference in Svyatogorsk Lavra
The conference was devoted to the results of archaeological, historical and museological research in 2016. This –is the 11th conference "Sibilevskie readings" organized by the Svyatogorsk Historical and Architectural Reserve, with the assistance and support of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra.
At the opening ceremony, Metropolitan Arseniy of Svyatogorsk said, addressing the participants, that everything good in human history originates from the Church, as well as real science, one way or another, comes from God. Generally speaking, history is inextricably linked with the Church. After all, the books of the Old and New Testament, apart from having the divinely inspired truth, also contain a lot of historical material, which, according to the Svyatogorsk rector, is now confirmed by archaeological excavations.
Metropolitan Arseniy also presented a new calendar of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra for 2017.
The keynote speakers at the conference were experts of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra.
The collection of scientific papers included the article "The Holy Mounts and their role in addressing the refugee problem at the beginning of the XX and XXI centuries" dedicated to the historical parallels in the fate of the Svyatogorsk Monastery during the war years.
The historian and ethnographer from Belgorod Pavel Alboscheg in his report showed historical ties of Belgorod with the Donbass and the Svyatogorsk Lavra.
Annually, the proceedings of the Conference are published in the "Svyatogorsk Almanac". Its release in 2016 was presented by V.N. Dedov.
