Ministry of Culture evaluates the state of St. Andrew's Church as "stable" (VIDEO)

February 3, a briefing on "The state of conservation of the World Heritage sites "Kiev: St. Sophia’s Cathedral and the surrounding monastic buildings, the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (Ukraine)" was held. The director of the National Reserve "St. Sophia of Kiev" Nelia Kukovalskaya reported that all the monuments on the territory of the reserve and in the buffer zone are in a stable condition.

"We can see how the façade of the monument of the eighteenth century has been restored, – said Nelia Kukovalskaya. - Unfortunately, my predecessor, didn’t prevent serious problems to happen to this monument. But we coped with everything."

The director of the National Reserve also noted that the "skirt" on the dome of the church started leaking.
"The last restoration was 16 years ago, apparently, the seams opened up, causing leakage, – said Kukovalskaya. – We are coping with problems, often not with budget resources but with our own funds. The monuments that are located in the buffer zone of the reserve have many problems. In particular, there is a problem with St. Andrew's Church. However, all the sites are in a stable state."
