Chancellor of UOC meets with Primate of Bulgarian Orthodox Church

On February 10, 2017, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and All Ukraine, the chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary met with His Holiness Neophyte, Patriarch of All Bulgaria, in Sofia, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

Talking about the life of the Church in Ukraine, Vladyka emphasized that in the context of internal and external challenges facing the country, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church consistently and constantly advocates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.

In the conversation, His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte asked about the situation of the St. Sophia of Kiev, which he visited during his previous visit to Ukraine in 2012. According to the Patriarch, the cathedral made a great impression on him. Metropolitan Anthony said that one of the reserve temples was transferred to one of the schismatic structures unrecognized by Ecumenical Orthodoxy. During the meeting, one of the topics under discussion was the state of interfaith relations in Ukraine.

The Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church wished His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy, the bishops, clergy and the faithful of the UOC God's help, patience and hope. Patriarch Neophyte assured Metropolitan Anthony that the Bulgarian Church prays for peace in Ukraine, prayerfully empathizes with pain and trial of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and expressed confidence that all of these trials will end soon.
