Soul purification is made by baby steps, – UOC Primate

On 12 March, the second week of the Lent, on the holiday of Synaxis of All Venerables of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onuphry held a Divine Liturgy in the Trapezny temple of Saint Anthony and Theodosius of Kiev-Pechersk Caves at the Lavra, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

After the reading of the Gospel the Primate addressed numerous parishioners with a sermon. His Beatitude told about the life and struggle for the Orthodox teaching of Saint Gregory Palamas, about the light of the Mount Fabor, and the feat of Kiev-Pechersk Venerable Fathers.

“Every human has a chance to become saint,” underscored the Archpastor. “One should just grub up weeds in his soul, at least slightly, not falling into despair because it seems beyond his strength. “Soul purification is made by baby steps.”

At the Liturgy a special prayer was offered for the peace in Ukraine.

After the dismissal His Beatitude Metropolitan congratulated the present on the second week of the Lent, on the holiday of Saint Gregory Palamas and the holiday of Synaxis of All Kiev-Pechersk Venerable Fathers.
