UNESCO urges the monastery and the reserve to join efforts in protecting Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The delegation of the UNESCO International Organization visited the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, which belongs to UNESCO World Heritage sites, reports the site of the monastery.

Members of the delegation met with the Governor of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl and director of the National Kiev-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve Lyubomir Mikhailina.

The meeting was devoted to the joint efforts of the active monastery, occupying the territory of the Lower Lavra, and the Kiev-Pechersk Reserve, located in the Upper Lavra, in order to preserve the ancient Pechersk shrines, architectural monuments of history.

The Lavra and the Kiev-Pechersk Reserve jointly reconstruct the churches located in the Upper part of the monastery complex, cooperate in the cultural and administrative fields.

The Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is one of the most revered shrines of the Christian world and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
