Primate of UOC: God’s work will always become known

A role model for all Christians should be the Most Holy Theotokos and the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, according to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy in his Sunday sermon, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

"Both the Mother of God and the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women served the Apostles and the Savior, but never put themselves out, never stressed that they were disciples of the Savior of the world. They committed their feat modestly and simply," said the Primate.

His Beatitude stressed that "the Holy Myrrh-Bearers are a role model of what Christian women must be like, and the most famous among all women who have ever been and will be on earth is the Mother of God."

"The Mother of God and the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women got their spiritual adornment not "by the outward braiding of the hair", as the Apostle says, but through "the imperishable beauty of a meek and silent spirit." The woman is decorated with humility, gentleness, modesty. These virtues make her strong and beautiful," said His Beatitude.

Honoring the memory of the Myrrh-Bearing Women on the third Sunday of Pascha, the Church pays tribute to them and their deeds. According to the Archpastor, God’s work, even if committed in secret, not before the eyes of men, will sooner or later become known.

"Today the whole world knows that the Holy Myrrh-Bearers were faithful disciples of Christ the Savior, who were even ready to die with their Lord," he stressed.
