Prayers to saints and the Holy Virgin will help to overcome evil in the soul, – UOC Primate

The heart of man is the battlefield of good and evil, and prayers to the Most Holy Theotokos and all saints help to overcome evil. This was said by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry in his sermon on the commemoration day of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious, reports the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

"Every person has a battlefield – this is their soul, their heart. And this field is a meeting point for good and evil. Good exists in the form of the God’s grace, and evil – in the form of passions, vices, infirmities," he said.

Prayerful requests to the Most Holy Theotokos and all the saints help us to overcome evil in our soul.

"The saints do not die, they are alive and always help a person who appeals to them for help," said Metropolitan Onuphy. "And we pray to the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious to help us win this struggle, which is constantly being waged in our soul."

On the same day, the rite of glorification of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God “of the Tithes” was celebrated by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry in the Nativity of the Mother of God Monastery “of the Tithes” with the Divine Liturgy.
