Kiev Lavra begins preparations for the celebrations of 30th anniversary of the revival of monasticism in the monastery

The Spiritual Council headed by the abbot of the monastery, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, began preparations for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the revival of monasticism in the monastery, which is scheduled for the feast of St. Anthony of the Caves in 2018, writes the Lavra website.

"The thousand-year history of the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery includes several periods of restoration of the shrine after various kinds of persecutions and upheavals. One of the most significant such periods for the monastery, of course, can be considered exactly the modern stage of the revival of the Lavra, which began in 1988," emphasize the officials of the Kiev Lavra.

With the blessing of the Lavra’s Archimandrite, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, the first coordination meeting of the commission for the preparation of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the revival of monasticism in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra took place.

During the meeting, the issue of preparing photo and video materials about the contemporary life of the Lavra was discussed.
