On the eve of Rus Baptism Day miraculous icons arrive in Kiev

On the occasion of the Baptism Day of Rus and in honor of the 25th anniversary of Kharkov Bishops' Council, shrines from different parts of Ukraine will be brought to the capital, writes Foma in Ukraine.

Among them are the miraculous icons of the Mother of God "Akhtyrka" (Holy Trinity Akhtyrka Monastery, Sumy Region), Boyanskaya (Boyany Monastery, Chernivtsi Region), Iverskaya-Radomyshlskaya (St. Nicholas Church in Radomyshl, Zhytomyr),” Zimnenskaya"," Kasperovskaya"(Odessa)," Pochaev"and "Svyatogorsk"," Barskaya", the image of "The Savior Not Made by Hands "(St. Boris and Gleb nunnery, Kharkov region).

These, as well as the Kiev shrines – the image of the Mother of God "Look at Humility" from the Vvedensky monastery, "Kiev-Barskaya" (Holy Assumption Kiev-Pechersk Lavra) and "Vladimir-Desyatinnaya" (Desiatinnaya Church of the Virgin Nativity) – will take part on July 27 in a traditional prayer service on St. Vladimir Hill.

After the moleben in honor of the Day of Baptism of Rus, the shrines will be carried in the Cross Procession to the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra where the festive all-night vigil will begin.

In July, in honor of the coming Day of Baptism of Rus throughout Ukraine, the Cross Procession with the ancient and newly appeared shrines of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will take place. The temporary "exchange" process of shrines among the UOC eparchies will begin on July 1.

Divine Liturgies, Akathistos readingand prayers to the Mother of God will be performed with continual praying for the Church and the peace in Ukraine during the stay of miraculous icons in all temples.

The purpose of the cross processions is to unite people around the original Gospel values and revered Orthodox shrines.

July 3 - in the temples of Khmelnitsky, July 4 – Litinsky deanery, July 5 – Barsky deanery, July 6 – Zhmerinka deanery, July 7 - Kazatin deanery.
