"This year, students from different corners of Russia will be able to get acquainted with the temples and cities of the region."

The official noted that today there are about 270 operating churches and more than 80 churches in the region. The shrines of Zadonsk and Yelets are annually visited by thousands of believers.

According to expert estimates, the flow of tourists and pilgrims visiting holy places on the territory of Russia is more than 1.5 million people per year and increases by 3-4% annually.
