A pilgrimage from Lutsk to Pochayiv (ANNOUNCEMENT)

Volyn eparchy of the UOV invites all wishing to take part in the walking pilgrimage, dedicated to the holiday of Pochayiv icon of the Mother of God. The believers will start out their journey on July 31. It is reported by the eparchy’s site.

With the blessing of the chancellor of Volyn diocese, His Eminence Nathanael, on July 31, a pilgrimage from Lutsk to the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra will begin. The general route will cover more than a hundred kilometers and will end on August 4-5.

Believers and clergy will leave the Holy Protection Cathedral in Lutsk at 11:00 am. On the first day, it is planned to cover twenty-one kilometers of the way, through the villages of Boratin, Novostav, Topolye (Rivne region). Overnight accommodation is in the village of Podloztsy.

On the second day it is anticipated to overcome 22 km. Overnight stop is in Demidovka.

The route of the third day will be longer by 2 kilometers and will pass through Rogoznoe, Kozin, with a stop in Ivashchuki.

The fourth day of pilgrimage will be difficult: the participants will have to travel 27 km and get to the overnight stop in the village of Komarovka (Ternopil region).

On the fifth day, on August 4, the last 11 kilometers of the road to Pochayiv will be left.

On August 5, at the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra, believers will celebrate the Day of Pochayiv Icon of the Mother of God and return home.
