Sculpture of Theotokos beheaded in Lvov

On July 17, vandals beat off the head of the Blessed Virgin, established in 2014 in the Square of Dignity of the largest residential area Sykhiv in Lvov. The head was not at the scene of the incident and it has not been found yet, reports Tvoemisto.tv.

"For three years, there have been no such cases, only someone once tore off the plaque," Natalia Pipa, the head of the "Best Sykhiv" public organization, told reporters. "But this is not the first such case in the region: earlier this year unidentified perpetrators spoiled the figures of the Virgin near school №93 and №98. Now the sculptures are restored."

Similar incidents of vandalism occurred near the "Shuvar" market. The video recorded a perpetrator: a young man in a balaclava.

It was confirmed in the police department of the Lvov region that since the beginning of the year there have been several cases of damage to religious objects in Sykhiv. All these cases are being investigated now.

As reported in the press service of the Lvov City Council, the damaged sculpture of the Mother of God has been dismantled for restoration. Meanwhile, the sculpture will be kept in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin.
