Autocephaly for the Kyiv Patriarchate is unthinkable, – bishop of the Polish Church (VIDEO)

The Archbishop of the Polish Orthodox Church, Met. George of Wroclaw and Szczecin, spoke about the attitude of the Local Churches to the attempts of the Kiev Patriarchate to obtain the status of an autocephalous Church, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

"The fact that the Kiev Patriarchate is trying to create the "European Exarchate" under the slogan of its pseudo-jurisdiction is a sad fact," said Archbishop Georgy. The "UOC-KP" is not recognized by any Local Church, and we must remember this. The status of the truth and canonicity of Orthodoxy is precisely the fact that it is recognized by other Orthodox Churches. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church, under the primacy of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, is recognized by all Churches as an autonomous Church with broad rights. In Poland, today, there have been some episodes related to the visits of the so-called hierarchs of the so-called "Kyiv Patriarchate". They visited places that were excommunicated from the canonical Orthodox Church in Poland, for example, the so-called monastery in Ujkovice, met with the Uniates. But both at home and in other Local Churches, their presence and actions are not recognized by any Orthodox Local Church."

Vladyka stressed that he did not believe that Patriarch Bartholomew would be willing to grant autocephaly to the Kiev Patriarchate.

"I am sure that this is impossible," said the representative of the Polish Orthodox Church. "Of course, I have no right to voice everything that was discussed in personal conversations with representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. But I can note that, repeatedly talking with hierarchs, even with the Patriarch himself, I have never heard such statements from them. I had the opportunity to participate in the preparations for the Council in Crete, as well as in many other conferences and commissions, where this issue was discussed in the form of personal conversations. All Orthodox believe that the granting of autocephaly to the so-called "Kiev Patriarchate" is not simply impossible, it is unacceptable for the Orthodox Church. After all, we deal with a very serious schism, the sin of excommunication from the Church, with a disregard for the canons of the Orthodox Church."
