Newly appeared miraculous icons confirm our choice, – UOC Primate (VIDEO)
“Today we have a national holiday – the Day of Rus Baptism,” said Vladyka Onufriy. We always hold solemn festivities on this Day. People gather, we make the procession from the Vladimir Hill to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This day is the Day of Remembrance of the choice made by our baptizer and enlightener – the Great Prince Vladimir. He enlightened our land with the light of God's Grace, which brought to our people nobility and beauty. And we thank St. Vladimir that he has found the strength and courage to convert our predecessors from the savage, predatory state into a state of holiness and goodness. He was able to create the nation, called today the Holy Rus.”
The UOC Primate noted the significance of Kharkov Council of Bishops for the canonical Church in Ukraine.
"On this day, we’ve brought to St. Vladimir hill the holy wonderworking icons that showed their miracles in a new period of our history – after the Kharkov Council of Bishops of 1992," said His Beatitude Onufry. “The revealed miracles of these icons confirm that the choice that we made at this Cathedral is correct. And this year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of this choice. And we thank the Lord that He wised us up not to depart from the Truth. At that Council, most of the bishops correctly understood the nature of the Church and its destination, as well the way that all believers should go, who consider themselves to be part of the Church. At the Council, a new ministry was chosen in the conditions which life had put us in. This is the reality of democracy and freedom. And in these new realities the Church chose a new way of serving God and the people."
