Ivano-Frankivsk court opens a case on the lawsuit of UOC community in Kolomyia

Ivano-Frankivsk district administrative court has opened a court proceeding of the administrative case started upon the lawsuit of the religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Annunciation of the Holy Virgin in Kolomyia city. The parishioners sued the mayor of Kolomyia and the head of Kolomyia Police Station of the National Police General Headquarters in Ivano-Frankivsk region given the conflict that arose around the Annunciation church. It is reported on the official site of the court.

The religious community of the UOC of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the city of Kolomyia considers illegal the order of Kolomyia City Mayor No. 206-р "On the creation of a working group on the confessional belonging of the church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin." By the decision of the working group between the confessions of the UOC and the UGCC a worship schedule was defined at the temple. At the same time, the head of Kolomyia branch of the police sealed the church and the bell tower.

The UOC believers have been holding prayerful standings near the temple and demand their temple be returned to them.

On June there was an attempt of the temple seizure by the UGCC representatives.
