Ministry of Culture disrupt election of Director General of Kiev-Pechersk Reserve, – media

The contract with the Director General of the Kiev-Pechersk Reserve terminates. On August 31, the second meeting of the selection board was to be held and decide who to entrust to the largest museum complex in the country. However, committee members from the Ministry of Culture did not attend the meeting, writes Segodnya.

The head was to be selected by a special board, which includes three representatives of the Reserve, three representatives of the Ministry of Culture and three representatives from public organizations. But the quorum could not be collected. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture did not attend the meeting - the elections failed.

"The winner of the competitive selection for the post of Director General of the National Kiev-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve was not determined.

The date of the announcement of the repeated competitive selection will be posted on the official website of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine," the press service of the Ministry of Culture said.

Nikolai Tomenko, a member of the selection board, the founder of the Foundation "Native Country", is sure that the competition is thus being tried to disrupt.

"If three representatives of the Reserve and two representatives from public organizations came to the meeting, and three representatives from the Ministry of Culture did not turn up, without giving the selection board any explanations, then this is the general line of the Ministry of Culture, including the government as a whole. It is difficult to find any explanation why the authorized representatives of the selection board from the Ministry of Culture do not respect the laws. As far as I understand, they would like to appoint their head of the Reserve, but they do not have enough votes for this," said Nilolai Tomenko.

The acting director of the Reserve, Doctor of Historical Sciences Lyubomir Mikhaylina, is also taking part in the competitive selection. During his leadership, an 8-ton bell was erected at the Great Lavra Bell Tower. Before that, it had just stood on the ground for more than 10 years. Also, large-scale emergency and restoration and conservation work is being carried out in the Church of the Saviour on Berestov.
