Europe recommends Ukraine to create a positive image of the LGBT community

In the report of the Council of Europe's Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) on Ukraine, the authorities are urged to create a positive image of the LGBT community among schoolchildren.

Ukraine is "strongly recommended" "to undertake research and collect data on LGBT persons in Ukraine as well as on discrimination and intolerance against them.

The report also notes that "the main Ukrainian Churches remain the main source of the spread of such intolerance and prejudice. Their homophobic rhetoric increased sharply in the second half of 2015, after the March of Equality in Kiev and the adoption of laws that protect sexual orientation in the labor market."
