ROC’s Council accepts the proposal of Met. Onufry on special status of the UOC

The Council of Bishops unanimously supported the proposal of the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, Onufry, on introducing amendments to the charter of the Russian Orthodox Church that underline the special status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was written by the head of the UOC Law Department, Protopriest Alexander Bakhov on his Facebook page.

"The offer of His Beatitude was supported unanimously by the Council!

The status of independence and autonomy of the UOC with the center of administration in Kiev was emphasized and enshrined by a separate chapter in the Statute of the ROC!", he said.

The Primate of the UOC in his report at the ROC's Council of Bishops, currently held in Moscow, proposed to introduce a number of changes into the ROC Statute, with a view to more accurately reflecting the independence and autonomy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
