End of blockade: UOC community succeeds in unsealing temple in Ptichia
The Holy Assumption Church of the UOC community in the village of Ptichia
As reported by a UOJ the correspondent, on April 2, 2018, the court considered the petition of the Holy Assumption parish of the Rovno eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
"To revoke the temporary arrest of the church at 27 Lvovskaya Str., vlg. Ptichia, Dubno district, Rovno region, which belongs to the religious community of the Holy Assumption parish of the Rivne eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church," said the decision of the Dubno District Court.
The arrest on the church in the village of Ptichia was imposed by the Rovno City Court on January 16, 2016. Since then, the religious building has been sealed and closed for worship.
Now, after the decision of the district court, negotiations about the opening of the Holy Assumption Church for worship will continue with the authorities of the region.
Interfaith confrontation in the village of Ptichia of the Dubno district, Rovno region, has lasted since November 2014. Attempts to seize the temple and block it by representatives of the Kiev Patriarchate and the "Right Sector" members were often accompanied by beatings of believers of the UOC.
Despite the discussion of this situation with the OSCE representatives and 5 court decisions on this case, which confirm the community's right to the temple building, since 2015 the faithful of the Holy Assumption parish of the village of Ptichia have not had the opportunity to perform services in their church.
