MinCult goes to Zaporozhye to deal with "the most problematic UOC eparchy"

Andrey Yurash – Head of the Department for Religions and Nationalities of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine

In the commentary to RISU, Director of the Department Andrei Yurash explained this by saying that "the Zaporozhye eparchy of the UOC (MP) is now the most problematic in Ukraine".

"Lately, there have been a lot of resonant events that have stirred up the whole Ukraine," Yurash said and further noted that "the two clerics walking out of the eparchy are only an outward manifestation of those deep tendencies, internal repression and pressure felt by the clergy. With their leaving, the conflict in the eparchy has not been over".

The Director of the Department stressed that it was planned to invite Metropolitan Lukе of Zaporozhye.

The official is concerned that "in many eparchies of the UOC (MP) Patriarch Kirill is not commemorated. There are quite many bishops who personally informally bless such non-commemoration. But in Zaporozhye, Vladyka is categorical. He does not allow. Then such processes come to the surface."

Whether the Department is concerned about seizures of UOC churches in Ukraine http://spzh.news/en/news/52430-hramu-v-sele-ptichyja-snova-grozit-zahvat, Andrey Yurash did not specify.
