Tulchin eparchy records activation of Uniate proselytism

Head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk and Pope Francis

The increased activity of the Uniates is noted in relation to children and adolescents from Orthodox families, reports the website of Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchin and Bratslav.

"According to the reports of the deans, one of the methods of the Uniate 'social' proselytism is the rapid construction of mini-chapels or mini-temples, followed by the organization of children's and adolescent groups of Orthodox children to them, as well as the organization of 'free' children's bus 'pilgrimages' to Western Ukraine, Poland or Rome with an indispensable visit to the churches of the UGCC and sometimes even the Latin cathedrals," reads the final document of the Eparchial Council. "There were cases when Orthodox children returned from such 'pilgrimages' with a set of Uniate prayer books and paraphernalia, and some of them crossed themselves in a Latin way – with five fingers."

The Eparchial Council urged the clergy to strengthen the unity of the Church and the purity of Orthodoxy, to keep their priest’s oath unbreakable and rally around the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine.
