Session of the Holy Synod of the ROC on July 14 in Yekaterinburg
Politicians want to shake unity of the Church and create fake forms of church order in Ukraine, believes spokesman for Patriarch Kirill, priest Alexander Volkov.
The Holy Synod of the ROC, whose meeting was held on July 14 in Yekaterinburg, expressed concern that politicians are making attempts to destroy the unity of the Church in Ukraine, the press secretary of the Patriarch, priest Alexander Volkov, told journalists. It is reported by ”Interfax”.
"The Holy Synod expressed concern over attempts to destroy the unity of the Holy Church in Ukraine now when the clergy and believers are subjected to unfair accusations and vilifications, and the elements of this world are rebelling against the Church of St. Prince Vladimir, trying to undermine the unity of this holy Church," said Father Alexander.
According to him, the Holy Synod knows what is going on in Ukraine: "We know how politicians of different stripes are trying to undermine the unity of the Church and to appease their political views by creating some unnecessary, wrong, unnatural forms of church organization in this country," he added.
The summer session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church was held on July 14 in Yekaterinburg, under the chairmanship of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus.
In mid-April, Poroshenko addressed Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople with a petition to grant theTomos on autocephaly to the Church in Ukraine and announced the creation of a Single Local Church. The Verkhovna Rada supported the appeal of the President. The Kyiv Patriarchate has already stated that they see their leader Filaret, anathematized by the canonical Church, as a head of the SLC.
