Filaret: The Lord permitted the war for the Kiev Patriarchate’s growth
Head of the UOC KP Filaret
Filaret says that he sees his mission in the growth of the UOC KP structure and explains that he sees in it God's intervention allowing the war in the Donbass: "Do people see who defends the Ukrainian state and the Ukrainian land – the Kiev Patriarchate or the Moscow Patriarchate?" The Kiev Patriarchate defends, because Moscow protects the aggressor." The head of the Kiev Patriarchate said this in an interview with the "Priamyi" channel.
"We do not force anyone to join the Kiev Patriarchate. We do not want to incite religious enmity to prevent Moscow from interfering in our religious affairs," Filaret said.
He expressed confidence that the UOC cannot have any property in Ukraine: "Church property in Ukraine is the property of the Ukrainian Church. Both the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras will be transferred to the Ukrainian Church since these are Ukrainian shrines."
Earlier, Filaret has already stated that the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and the Pochaev Lavra, which belong to the UOC, should later be transferred to a new church structure, which Filaret himself plans to lead.
