Aleksandr Usik speaks in support of Cross procession: Grace is coming to us

World boxing champion Aleksandr Usik

The world champion in boxing in the first heavyweight Aleksandr Usik spoke in defense of the faithful who went to the procession in honor of the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. On August 1, during the press conference, the sportsman said that he did not understand why someone could interfere with people's praying out.

"I recently watched the religious procession on the Internet, which was dedicated to the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus," the athlete said. “Did you see how many people came out? Who can be uncomfortable with so many people walking and praying? Well, they are going in a procession and this fact hampers someone? I do not know whether this someone is sick or something."

According to Usik, let people go out and pray, it's a good thing.

"It's fine when people pray," the boxer said. "Grace comes to us, grace comes to us all and our country," Usik said.

On July 27 the Cross procession of the UOC took place in Kiev in honor of the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. Despite the obstacles on the part of the authorities, about 250,000 people took part in the procession.

Ukrainian boxer of the first heavyweight Aleksandr Usik became an absolute champion of the world in all major versions (WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF). Before the fight with Russian Murat Gassiev for the belt of the champion, the boxer said he was doing everything for the sake of the Orthodox faith.
