Prot. Nikolai Danilevich: Authorities’ actions regarding UOC are raiding
Deputy Head of UOC DECR UOC Protopriest Nikolai Danilevich
The state behaves as a raider towards the UOC, said the deputy head of the UOC DECR Protopriest Nikolai Danilevich in an interview with the 1Kozak tv channel.
"The Holy Synod of the UOC said that those bills that are under consideration by the Verkhovna Rada, as well as the actions of the state, and even the actions of Constantinople (although not said so but implied), as well as people who want to deprive the UOC of its name, to create a parallel structure, perhaps even to change the leadership — all these are signs of a raider seizure of the Church,” noted Prot. Nikolai. “We all know perfectly well what raiding is.” This is change of the name, seizure of the property and change of leadership. Therefore, today there is, in fact, a very dangerous moment, when the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is under the threat of a raider seizure.”
According to Fr. Nikolai, they want to push believers out of the legal field or make them outsiders, which is very dangerous, because we are talking about millions of people.
“The state plays a very dangerous game here and this is a matter of state security. We want to help the state, pointing to it, and even criticizing, indicating what it will lead to,” concluded the UOC spokesperson.
Earlier, the deputy head of the UOC DECR has said that the key to solving the Ukrainian church problem is not in Constantinople and not in Moscow, but in Ukraine.
