Exarchs compare Poroshenko with Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko met with the exarchs of the Constantinople Patriarchate on October 11, 2018

During a meeting with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Bishop Ilarion of Edmonton compared the President’s intervention in the life of the UOC with the feat of St. Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, reports the official website of the Head of State.

"Your name is inscribed in the history of Ukraine with gold letters along with the names of the rulers of Kievan Rus’, Kievan state, your predecessors – Holy Equal-to-the Apostles Great Prince Vladimir, Yaroslav the Wise, who did a lot for the spiritual prosperity of their people," Bishop Ilarion said.

The exarch compared the action of the Patriarchate of Constantinople with the sacrifice of Christ: “As a good shepherd, the Ecumenical Patriarchate left 99 sheep and led this one sheep to unity with this decision of October 11 - millions of Orthodox Christians, carrying out its Calvary self-sacrificial mission, which it continues to carry out contrary to its own interests…”

The meeting of the exarchs of Constantinople with Petro Poroshenko took place on October 16, 2018.
