Novaya Kakhovka eparchy supports canonical Church

A meeting of the deans of the Novaya Kakhovka and Genichesk eparchy

The bishop commented to the clergy on his official statement, which he had published the day before, reports the press service of the eparchy.

On November 15, Archbishop Filaret (Zverev) of Novaya Kakhovka and Genichesk officially denied rumours of his plans to go to the SLC and said that he did not intend to abandon the UOC.

After the prayer, which opened the meeting of the clergy of the eparchy, the hierarch reported on the church events that took place on November 13-15 of this year and answered the questions of those present about the Bishops’ Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

It is reported that the position expressed in the statement by Archbishop Filaret (Zverev) of Novaya Kakhovka and Genichesk found the full support and understanding of the deans.

Vladyka noted that in the present extremely difficult situation it is important to understand: we must remain the Church of Christ under all circumstances. This is the only way to correctly respond to the challenges of the time and remain faithful to God.

The need for timely and frank informing the flock about the real content of church events was discussed.

As the UOJ reported, on November 13, 2018, some mass media said that Archbishop Filaret (Zverev) of Novaya Kakhovka and Genichesk participated in a meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the Ukrainian House. The journalists presented this as irrefutable proof that the hierarch supports the religious policy of the authorities and plans to move to the SLC.
