Filaret about OCU: We have won at Stalingrad but it’s a far cry to Berlin

Ex-head of the UOC KP Filaret Denisenko

Comparing the creation of the OCU with the events of the Second World War, the former head of the UOC KP said that "there still awaits the Battle at the Kursk Bulge," Espresso reports about it.

According to him, during the recent events related to the OCU creation, “very few people understood why Europe was concerned about whether the Tomos would be granted or not. Why did the United States contribute to this? Because it has epoch-making significance – not only for Ukraine but also for Europe and for the whole world.”

Filaret continued, “Do not think that the struggle is over. As I have already told my bishops and clergy, this is a victory at Stalingrad, but Berlin is still far away. And there will still be the Kursk Battle.”

As the UOJ reported earlier, during the thanksgiving prayer "for receiving the Patriarchal and Synodal Tomos on autocephaly", "patriarch" Filaret thanked God for "the recognized autocephalous Ukrainian Church" and explained that since there is the OCU, it means Ukraine is and will be. However, there is no official information on the recognition of this new church by any Local Church other than Constantinople.
