Poroshenko: Those saying that metropolis is not independence tell a lie

President Petro Poroshenko in the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Lutsk

Those who want to find the lack of independence in the Tomos on autocephaly will not find it there. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this on January 15, speaking from the pulpit of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Lutsk. The head of state posted the video of his speech on his Facebook page.

The president called the new church structure a metropolis and said that those who are looking for the absence of autocephaly in it are wrong. To correct this misconception, according to Petro Poroshenko, one can only visit the “sacraments” in the “holy church of Ukraine.”

“Now someone is very unhappy that we have a Tomos. Someone doesn’t like our prayers of thanks when we thank the Lord for it. Someone is looking for the absence of autocephaly in this Tomos – you will not find it! And do not listen to your instructors from Moscow – they will  just not bring anything good! They say the metropolis is not independence. Not true! My advice: go to the new Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Repent. Confess. Take the communion. It will definitely relieve you, and you will feel better,” Petro Poroshenko advised the opponents of the Tomos.

As the UOJ reported, billboards had appeared in Ukraine advertising the tour of Petro Poroshenko with Tomos. On January 13, the President and the head of the OCU, Epiphany, delivered the Tomos to Vinnitsa and before that the Head of State managed to demonstrate the document in Rovno.

Earlier, Oksana Syroid, Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, reported that Petro Poroshenko was godlessly exploiting the Tomos turning the Church into a decoration for his pre-election campaign.
