OCU "bishop" leads the liturgy in the Athos Monastery

The delegation of the new church structure on the Holy Mount

On February 8, 2019, the representative of the Ukrainian schismatic Church “Bishop” Pavel Yuristyi of Odessa and the Baltic celebrated the Divine Liturgy today at Pantocrator Monastery on Mt. Athos.

The night before, the monastery brethren and delegates from the new church structure also performed evening services, he wrote on Facebook.

Pantocrator was among the 5 out of 20 monasteries that voted to send a delegation to the enthronement of “Metropolitan” Epiphany Dumenko in Kiev on Sunday, February 3, along with Iveron, Stavronikita, Xenophontos, and Koutloumousiou. Representatives of the majority of Athos monasteries (15) spoke out against it. Many Athonite hermits claim to stop the commemoration of Patriarch Bartholomew. Other monasteries, including Philotheou and Karakallou, have said that they would close their gates if Epiphany Dumenko, the head of the OCU, visits the Holy Mount.
