In Yasinia town UOC believers prevent their temple from seizure

The church in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in the town of Yasinia

As the UOJ found out, on February 24, 2019, members of the religious community of the church in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the town of Yasinia in Transcarpathia held a meeting where they stood for loyalty to the UOC. However, the OCU activists, who arrived at the temple, tried to hold their own meeting on the "translation" of the temple.

Protopriest Vitaly Kemin, dean of Yasinia district, says that there were about 100 raiders, and only 10 percent of them were local residents. Among the raiders were also representatives of the UOC KP.

The UOC community did not allow the raiders to hold a meeting and recorded the signatures of those who spoke in favor of the canonical Church.

Frustrated by the rebuff of believers, the activists dispersed without achieving their goal.

This is not the first attempt to capture the temple. A week ago, on February 17, 2019, the raiders tried to seize the church in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the town of Yasinia. However, the parishioners and the clergy did not allow the attackers to the building and the temple was defended. Not being morally prepared to fight back, the raiders began to threaten its rector. Protopriest Alexander Gasparovich, the head of the family with two minor children, heard from a certain Yuri Yosypchuk that the latter was going to throw him into the river.
