Metropolitan Vladimir of Vladimir-Volynsky and Kovel visited Holy Dormition Monastery

On February 24, 2019, the Vladimir-Volyn diocese chancellor, Metropolitan of Vladimir-Volynsky and Kovel, visited Nizkinichi Holy Assumption Monastery, which officials and supporters of the OCU tried to “transfer” into the newly created church structure, the eparchy’s press service reports.

His Eminence Vladimir thanked the vicar of the monastery, Archimandrite Vikentiy, the monastery's brethren and parishioners for their fortitude in faith and wished to remain loyal to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its Primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy.

“Today the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is going through hard times. Now is the time when Orthodox Christians have an excellent opportunity to show their spiritual courage and true love for the Mother Church. One must be faithful to God not only in the light of the day. When darkness comes, we must also remain faithful children of the Church of Christ,” said Vladyka Vladimir.

Recall that on February 23 in the village of Nizkinichi, Ivanichi district, Volyn region, the issue of jurisdiction of the local UOC Dormition Monastery was discussed at two meetings.

Having learned about the attempts of provocations against the monastery, the parishioners of the monastery from several neighboring settlements held a general meeting of the parish, which fully comply with the norms of the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations." The meeting resulted in the unanimous decision of 658 parishioners to preserve the religious community of the monastery subordinate to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headed by its Primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy.

As the UOJ reported, on February 23, Stephan Fulmes, the rector of the UOC KP cathedral from the neighboring town of Novovolynsk, was present at the school-held meeting of Nizkinichi village.
