Сommunity of Staraya Zhadova starts 24-hour prayer standing

The community of Staraya Zhadova began 24-hour prayer standing

On April 24, 2019, in the village of Staraya Zhadova of the Storozhynets district, Chernovtsy region, the religious community of the Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel began around-the-clock prayer standing in connection with the systematic intervention of state authorities in the life of the parish, reports the press service of the Chernovtsy-Bukovina Eparchy.

The believers explain that they are protesting against forcible "re-registration” of the statute of the UOC community to OCU, in accordance with the order of the Acting Chairman of the Chernovtsy RSA Mikhail Pavliuk.

The community believes that the actions of Mikhail Pavliuk are aimed at inciting religious hatred and threaten with the seizure of the temple.

In addition, the believers are outraged by the theft of documents and funds, with which they were going to buy Easter baskets for ATO soldiers, low-income and lonely old people.

In the opinion of the UOC community, the secretary of the OCU community meeting, who signed the statute of this organization, embezzled the funds, which is resulted in opening the criminal proceeding against him.

As the UOJ reported, in February 2019, the religious community of the village of Staraya Zhadova, Chernovtsy region, where childhood and school years of the OCU “head” Epiphany Dumenko passed, decided to remain in the bosom of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church by an absolute majority of votes.
