Vladimir Zelensky meets with the head of UGCC
The head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk presented Vladimir Zelensky with a book on the history of the church and an icon of major church feasts.
On May 6, the newly elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk, reports the UGCC website.
The head of the UGCC congratulated Vladimir Zelensky on his election to the presidency, as well as on the great confidence of the Ukrainian people in him. Sviatoslav Shevchuk "assured him of the openness of the UGCC to cooperate on a partnership basis for the benefit of the Ukrainian people and our state".
Especially Sviatoslav Shevchuk "remembered the importance of the World Congress of Ukrainians and the large Ukrainian diaspora in supporting our state on the world stage, as well as the need for an appropriate response to the challenges of the hybrid war that the aggressor country is waging against Ukraine through propaganda and disinformation," says in the press service of the UGCC.
The head of the UGCC invited Vladimir Zelensky to visit the Ukrainian Catholic University, which is, in his words, "an academic platform of hope for young Ukrainians."
At parting, he presented Zelensky a book on the history of the UGCC and an icon of the largest religious feasts.
As the UOJ reported, earlier it became known that the leaders of the Ukrainian Catholic University turned out to be the authors of a number of publications on the propaganda leaflet with Poroshenko and Putin on the cover. The brochure entitled “21 April. Elect!” was published in 4,000,000 copies at their expense.
Also, the Greek Catholic priests removed from their accounts on social media friends who voted for the newly elected President Vladimir Zelensky.
We recall that on April 30, Zelensky met with the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, held a conversation with the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko, and the “Honorary Patriarch” Filaret Denisenko. On May 2, a meeting was held with the muftis and Muslim religious leaders of Ukraine, and on May 6 – with representatives of the Council of Rabbis of Ukraine.
