On the night of August 13-14, 2019, an unknown vandal robbed a church on the territory of the St. Anastasia Stauropegial Convent of the Zhitomir Eparchy of the UOC, reports the website of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Zhitomir Region.

The criminal stole the donations of believers, jewelry from shrines and an icon.

According to preliminary information, he broke open a window to enter the temple. Later, when inspecting the territory, law enforcement officers found a stolen icon at the fence.

The person guilty of theft will be imprisoned for a term of 3 to 6 years, noted on the website of the National Police.

Earlier, law enforcement officers detained a thief who robbed the UOC church in the village of Kniagininok of the Volyn region.
