On August 19, 2019, on the Dedication Day of the Transfiguration Cathedral of Vinnitsa, the community performed a prayer service with the akathist of the Transfiguration of the Lord near the cathedral, reports the press service of the Vinnitsa Eparchy.

This year, for the first time, the clergy with believers could not celebrate the feast with divine services in the cathedral.

More than eight months have passed since the moment when the main temple of the Vinnitsa Eparchy was seized by supporters of Metropolitan Simeon (Shostatsky), who was banned from priesthood. Since then, all that the cathedral community can count on is worship at the walls of the seized shrine.

“On the Dedication Day, a prayer service was performed with the akathist of the Transfiguration of the Lord near the cathedral. Meanwhile, at the entrance to the cathedral, a few supporters of the OCU gathered, who, despite the fact that the service continued inside the temple, sang chants, oddly enough, in Russian,” they say in the eparchy.

At the end of the service, the clergy, led by the rector of the cathedral, Archpriest Nikodim Vygovsky, performed the blessing of the fruit of the new harvest, after which the rector sprinkled the present with holy water.

The celebration ended with handing out blessed fruit to those present and the common singing of spiritual songs.

As reported by the UOJ, every Sunday at 5 p.m. the community of the main temple of the Vinnitsa Eparchy seized by OCU supporters holds services at its walls. Vinnitsa Eparchy welcomes everyone to prayer support of the religious community of the Saviour Transfiguration Cathedral.
