On September 29, 2019, during a visit to the Odessa Eparchy on the occasion of the festivities in honor of the 25th anniversary of the canonization of St. Kuksha, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine visited the Holy Protection Monastery in the village of Marinovka, Odessa region, according to the UOC’s Facebook page.
The Archpastor came to see a burgeoning monastery, examined its temples and talked with the brethren and parishioners of the monastery.
“I am very pleased to be in this holy place,” said the First Hierarch. “Four years ago, by the decision of the Synod of the UOC, this parish was turned into a skete of the Holy Protection Monastery. A lot has been done over the years! There was such a devastation, but now we have such a wonderful shrine – cozy and spiritually filled.
I wish everyone health and God's help so that this place would be a spiritual oasis for all people to come and find everything necessary for a good Christian life – the grace of the Holy Spirit,” the Primate said.
As the UOJ reported, Odessa marked the 195th anniversary of the foundation of the Holy Assumption Monastery and the 25th anniversary of the canonization of the Venerable Kuksha of Odessa. The Primate of the UOC took part in the festivities.
