In order to decide on the recognition of the OCU, the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Jerome II, convened an extraordinary meeting of the Holy Synod, reports the Greek online edition “Romfea”.

An extraordinary meeting, according to the Greek source, is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2019.

The Synod session begins at 9:00.

During the meeting, members of the Holy Synod will consider the proposal of Archbishop Jerome II regarding the OCU.

Earlier, Greek media reported that the Synod of the Church of Greece is "looking for a formula" for its position on the OCU.

However, even if the Greek Church recognizes the recently created church structure, this will not make the new religious organization canonical and will not solve the religious problem that has arisen in Ukraine, Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, deputy head of the UOC DECR, said.
