UN demands to close down "Mirotvorets" calling for persecution of UOC

At a meeting of the VR Committee on Freedom of Speech, the deputy chairman of the UN Monitoring Mission Benjamin Moreau spoke about the need to close down the controversial site “Mirotvorets”, reports the online resource "Ukrainian News".

Moreau drew the attention of people's deputies of Ukraine to the fact that the activities of this site are illegal.

“I remind you again and again of one very well-known moment for you – the “Mirotvorets” website. As you know, the site has personal data of individuals, including journalists, which violates national laws and international standards,” he stressed. “Those whose data are posted on the website are designated as terrorists, separatists, and traitors. The disclosure of their data, in turn, poses a danger to such persons.”

The deputy chairman of the monitoring mission reminded Ukrainian politicians that a man, whose data was published on “Mirotvorets”, was killed in Mariupol on the landing of his own house.

“Unfortunately, the contact details of journalists are still on the site, which is dangerous for them,” the UN representative added.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmitry Razumkov said at a briefing that the Verkhovna Rada does not have the authority to close down the “Mirotvorets” website.

“The Parliament cannot join such processes, because the Rada does not have the authority to close down both information and other sites. I would very much like all the media to work exclusively in the legislative field and not harm the interests of our country,” Sharij.net cites Razumkov’s words. “Because if such respected missions (UN Monitoring Mission – Ed.) address Ukraine, not paying attention to that is incorrect and wrong.”

We recall that the administration of the “Mirotvorets” site demanded to expel the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, from the country. From the pages of this site, a call was made "to shoot Moscow priests without hesitation".

After a press conference on threats from C14, Anna Poddubnaya, the UOJ director, was entered in the “Mirotvorets” database.

In the period from May to September 2018, the abbot of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, Metropolitan Luke (Kovalenko) of Zaporozhye and Melitopol, and a number of UOC hierarchs who “opposed the initiative” of the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Verkhovna Rada on the establishment of the unified Local Church, were added to the scandalous website database.

Later, the rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, Archbishop Ambrose of Vereya, was also entered in the base of the scandalous site. He was noted as "an opponent of the independence of Ukrainian Orthodoxy from Russia (aggressor state)-controlled ROC".

Participants in the flash mob in support of the clergy of the UOC were also published on “Mirotvorets”.
