The "priest" of the Kiev-based OCU temple in honor of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple, Sergei Tkachuk, introduced a new cross with tridents to be hoisted on the bell tower under construction, combined with a gym. Sergei Tkachuk spoke about the significance of the trident for believers of the Orthodox Church on his Facebook page.

According to him, “the Ukrainian national emblem (trident – Ed.) is a unique spiritual and cultural monument of the history of European civilization. For Christians around the world – Orthodox and Catholics – it epitomizes one of the main symbols – Faith and Hope.”

In his publication, Tkachuk proves that the trident occupies a significant place in the design of temples of his religious structure and is also used as a symbolic element in the "priestly vestments".

Sergei Tkachuk gave examples of photos with the coat of arms in the interiors of several churches of the UAOC and the UOC-KP in Europe and the USA.

In addition, the “cleric” of the OCU cited the words of “Ukrainian stigmatist” Stepan Navrotsky, who said that “there will be no Ukraine until there is a cross on the trident”.

Sergei Tkachuk also drew the attention of his subscribers that the UAOC “patriarch” Mstislav Skripnik, as well as the pro-nationalist bishop of the Polish Church, Hilarion (Ogienko), wore panagias with the image of tridents.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Bishop Victor (Kotsaba) of Baryshevka, nationalism can destroy faith and religious beliefs.
